About Niseko International Clinic
Niseko International Clinic is officially designated by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) as a Clinical Training Institution for Foreign Physicians.
Since receiving designation in April 2023, we have successfully hosted:
- 🇲🇽 Dr. Lupita Estrade (Mexico)
- 🇬🇧 Dr. Munro Moffat (Scotland)
- 🇦🇺 Dr. Thomas Smith (Australia)
Each physician trained in high-volume winter emergency care and sports trauma, contributing to our truly international clinical environment.
For the 2026–27 season, only one (1) physician will be selected.
Location
Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan
One of Asia’s most internationally visited winter resorts, treating thousands of global patients each season.
Training Period
Early December 2026 – Late March 2027
(Full winter season participation preferred)
- 5 days per week
- Approximately 8 hours per day
- Extension possible up to 2 years
Visa sponsorship provided
Visa processing typically requires approximately 4 months
Application deadline: End of August
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold a valid medical license
- Have ≥ 3 years of clinical experience post-qualification
- Meet MHLW requirements for Foreign Physician Clinical Training
- Be fluent in English
- Be physically and mentally fit for high-intensity winter clinical practice
- Demonstrate strong professionalism and teamwork
Preferred background:
- Emergency Medicine
- Orthopedics
- Family Medicine
- Sports Medicine
Japanese reading/writing ability is highly desirable but not mandatory.
Clinical Exposure
This is a hands-on program — not an observership.
Participants will gain experience in:
- Acute ski and snowboard trauma
- Fractures, ligament injuries, and dislocations
- Sedation and reduction procedures
- Multicultural primary and urgent care
- Collaboration with ski patrol and regional referral hospitals
High procedural volume. Real responsibility. Direct supervision.

Compensation & Support
Under Japanese regulations for foreign physician clinical training:
- Salary cannot be provided.
However, NIC provides:
- Living expenses support
- Accommodation (apartment housing)
- Visa sponsorship and administrative assistance
This program offers a rare professional and cultural experience that extends far beyond financial compensation.
